Stripes are hot!

When the temperature hits 70 degrees for first time after 6 odd months, I’m not too confident on the weatherpeople (trying to be gender neutral here), not that they are very trust worthy anyways. So I did not ditch all my warm coverings on this sunny, bright, hot day of a Friday, a couple of weeks ago. Also it is advisable to carry some kind of a light weight wrap top as most subway trains in NYC are chilled like refrigerators as temperature rises…brrr! Understandably so….i.e. to keep the sweaty smell of millions of crowding straphangers at bay.

Yup, I did call out of work to celebrate the first actual summer day of the season. The weather also made me daring enough to style stripe on stripe. I love this little sweater, rather a wrap cardigan, that is handy and versatile. It goes well with florals, stripes, and almost all colors.

I could have gone without the black tights as it was really warm that day. The cowboy boots were comfortable for the hours of walking I did in the Central Park to Belvedere Castle.
Black and white stripes is trending for many years I feel.

Btw I am not the B that stole anyones look…but look who is wearing the exact same dress! Emmy Rossum, the Shameless actress. Jaime Chung, Big Hero 6 actress (& blogger)

The walk to the castle was absolutely refreshing and the picture below is at Shakespeare Garden on the way to the Belvedere Castle.

The dangling earrings need a special mention just because they look so cool. They are from a tribal fair in my hometown, Bhubaneswar, Orissa. It’s made of small donut shaped wooden pieces of different colors and brass accents. The stacked donut shaped pieces compliment the stripe ensemble and gives a playful appearance.

What am I wearing?
Wrap cardigan: Hollister
Striped frock: Express
Shades: NYC street fair steal
Western style cowboy boots: DSW
